I'm sitting here typing the blog out in L&D Room 12 at Kaiser Hayward. Yup, Melissa went into labor earlier today. Baby Boy Mac is slated to come out of womb early Friday morning, March 7. No time to tell the story now, but I do promise a running diary of this fun/exciting/anxious day... And as the title says...
Three random thoughts so far on this great experience:
- Again: as the title says... Seriously, you try and play the whole thing in your head- predict what might and might not happen- and it doesn't even come close to what you actually experience... I still have to put the car seat in the Accord!!!
- It definitely helps if your spouse is employed with the hospital. I don't want to jinx this because as I said, we're still here and its only about halftime of this game so far. But I'd have to say, it is DAMN NICE that Melissa works for Kaiser as a nurse. She doesn't even work in this particular location, but has worked with a few of the nurses/ CRNA's/ Dr.'s here and it has helped tremendously with the whole process. Now, I can only hope that all Kaiser patients receive the same type of treatment, but... Well, you tell me if my assumption is off.
- My love for my wife just keeps growing. I can't imagine going through the pain she has gone through. This part, the labor and delivery, is like the peak of the whole ride, but she's endured damn near 10 body changing, mind blowing, emotional roller-coasting months of this thing called pregnancy. And now we're at the 11th hour of her labor, contractions were riDUNKulous at one point, she gets stabbed with a BIG needle for the epidural, she has tubes/wires/IV's stuck to her, and we're still waiting for baby to pop out... I tell you- I wouldn't make it past the body changing part. I've always said Melissa's a trooper...
Well, gotta go. We're about two hours away...
